We want to take this opportunity to wish our departing partner Dr Daragh O’Neill all the very best in his new practice. We are delighted to welcome some new staff members and sad to say goodbye to others.
Welcome to Jillian, our new Practice Manager. Jillian has settled into her new roll with gusto and we look forward to what she has in store for the future of the practice. She’s already had the place painted, changed the uniforms and if we stand still long enough we are afraid she’ll try to give us a makeover too!
Welcome to our new Registrar, Dr James McCormick. He will be with us until June 2018. We are delighted to have him here.
Welcome also to our new Administration Staff. They are a vital link in the chain here at 47 Medical. Welcome to Elaine & Elizabeth. We look forward to working with you.
And finally, we must bid adieu to long-standing team members Denise and Marie, and our Practice Nurse, Jacinta. Their dedication, knowledge and personalities will be missed by staff and patients alike. We wish them all great success in whatever the future holds.

Learning how to manage common illnesses with confidence and common sense is a great life skill. We all need good, sound advice to develop the confidence and skill to take care of ourselves and our families, and this website aims to give you that advice.
It will help you to deal with common illnesses like colds, flu, earaches, tummy bugs and more. Undertheweather.ie was developed using health information and advice from the HSE and the experience of GPs and Pharmacists from around Ireland.
The Flu Vaccination is now available at Number 47 Medical Practice. If you have a chronic illness or are over 65 years old, it is recommended that you get the flu vaccine every year. Please drop in to us for vaccination, no appointment necessary.
Free GP care for children under the age of six is the first phase in a planned process to provide free GP care for the entire population.
In addition to providing GP care for all under sixes the new contract will also provide wellness checks for children once at age two and once at age five. Please note your GP can carry out this check at any time when your child is two or five. You do not need to make a special appointment just for this checkup. It can be carried out at any appointment the child has during the year.
The scheme started on July 1st 2015. You can register at gpvisitcard.ie.
Once you register, the details are sent to your GP of choice, who must accept your child on his/her panel. Once that is confirmed, you’ll be sent a GP visit card in the post.
From the 1st July 2015, due to the introduction of this scheme, we expect a higher demand for appointments each day. This may result in some delays in getting an appointment. Our priority will continue to be to see patients who are sick and need medical attention on the day. Over-attendance for non-medical matters can make this more difficult for us to achieve.
In order to minimize the possibility of longer waiting times, we ask all our patients to cooperate with our admin and nursing staff, who are trained to ask you appropriate questions to help ensure you get the most suitable care when needed. All information given to our staff is treated with the strictest confidence.
A full Medical Card provides the patient with free GP care when they are sick, and also any prescriptions from the chemist. A GP visit card covers the patient for their visit to the GP when they are sick and need medical attention.
According to recent documentation received from the HSE, the following items are not covered by a Medical Card / GP Visit Card.
For each of these services, there will now be a fee. An outline of fees applicable can be seen in Reception.
